Practice Areas

At Brea Law Firm, we offer legal solutions in various areas of law, combining experience, empathy, and personalized attention.

Find out how we can help you according to your needs.

Family Law

Family relations cases are extremely sensitive because they go to the core of all human development: the family. Here you will find what you are looking for: professionalism and empathy.

Family law is the constitutional law in the civil sphere that covers family relationships, whether by blood, adoption, or marriage, and the presumption of legal capacity. Our experience leads us to conclude that when family disputes arise, they must be handled from a legal and empathetic perspective. We share some of the family law services we provide, both in litigation before the Court of Justice and in notarial proceedings.
• Filial relationships
• Food (minors and relatives)
• Custody
• Parental Authority
• Adoption
• Divorces
• Liquidation of Joint Property
• Corrections to Records in the Demographic Registry (Health Department)
• Name Change
• Judicial Emancipations
• Declaration of Incapacity and appointment of guardian
• Affiliations
• Others

Civil Law

Civil law encompasses contracts, obligations, property, and other matters. We have the experience to help you.
Civil rights are the freedoms and living conditions that the State, by law, grants to individuals. They are norms that establish how individuals should behave or act, both in relationships with others and toward the State. We have the experience to enforce your rights. Although this does not always involve litigation, we can resolve them before they reach the Court of Justice. The matters we handle include, but are not limited to:
• Collection of money
• Eviction
• Extrajudicial damages (insurers)
• Breach of Contract
• Settlement of community property
• Mortgage Cancellation for Lost Promissory Note
• Others

Notarial Law

As a notary, we have the experience to make possible the contract, deed, or declaration necessary to resolve a situation or avoid it.
A notary is a legal professional who exercises a public function consisting of receiving, interpreting, and legally enforcing the will of the parties, attesting to the facts, drafting appropriate instruments for that purpose, authenticating them, preserving the originals, and issuing copies that attest to their content. We have the sensitivity and experience to handle matters such as:
• Divorces before a notary
• Wills
• Trusts (Inter vivos and testamentary)
• Contracts
• Testimonies/Affidavits
• Emancipations
• Marriage Agreements
• Powers
• Non-contentious matters before notaries (declaration of heirs, correction of deeds, testamentary letters, etc.)
• Others

Real Estate Transactions

Real estate processes can be challenging. We have the experience to help our clients through their home search, investment property search, rental search, and more, protecting their rights.

We protect the rights and interests of our clients in both commercial and residential real estate matters. We provide protection to buyers, sellers, landowners, developers, contractors, and real estate brokers/salespeople. The matters we handle include, but are not limited to:

• Purchase and sale
• Donations
• Payment in Kind
• Leases
• Mortgage Cancellation
• Groups
• Segregations
• Safe Home Acts
• Building Certificates
• Surface rights
• Domain records
• Mortgages
• Prescriptive acquisition (Usucapion)
• Others

Right to Health

Health is a fundamental right, and so is protecting your medical decisions. At Brea Law Firm, we guide you through your rights as a patient, review contracts, and draft documents such as advance directives, all with sensitivity, confidentiality, and legal precision.
• Last will and testament regarding medical treatment
• Contract review
• HIPAA Law

Succession Law

A new path emerges with death, so we must build it before we leave. We can help you here, and if it hasn't been created, we can assist those family members through it.

Succession law begins with death; it is the estate composed of assets, rights, and obligations that we leave upon our death to those called to inherit from us.

Estate planning allows you to make key decisions about your assets and what will happen after your death. It also allows you to create a plan for how to pass on the inheritance and assets you have accumulated during your lifetime to your loved ones, potentially reducing disputes after your passing. We can help you here. If, on the other hand, your loved one passed away without planning ahead, this shouldn't be a headache. We have the experience to work with intestate inheritance and guide you through to the end. Some of the cases we handle include:
• Succession planning
• Declarations of Heirs
• Settlement of hereditary community extrajudicially and judicially
• Attestation of holographic wills
• Challenge of Wills
• Testamentary Letters
• Others

Appellate Practice

If you are dissatisfied with the Court's order, ruling, or judgment, we can help you have it reviewed by the appellate court (higher court).

If you disagree with an interlocutory court order or judgment, you have the right to request reconsideration before the same court. If the court does not grant a reconsideration, you may appeal to the appropriate appellate court within the jurisdictional period. Our services include:

• Appeals

• Certiorari

• Others
